As part of the district's ongoing efforts to promote inclusion and stamp out bullying, I wanted to tell you a little bit about what's happening at Larson Middle School this week and next. Staff and students have been focusing on promoting PEACE. The theme is Peace In… Dissin’ Out. Teachers are presenting mini lessons relating to bullying, being a hero and sticking up for others, acceptance, impact of labels, tolerance, diversity and celebrating our similarities. Next Tuesday the 26th during sixth hour, the school will host a “White Out” peace assembly to celebrate and review our week. There will be games, a Peace IN pledge, skits relating to our week, a presentation from Athens' Diversity Club and a teacher dance. This effort is just one of many programs going on in every school in the Troy School District and we're hoping they all foster conversation at home. Ask your children what anti-bullying programs they've been a part of in their schools! |
